Industry News » Bayer Escorts the Harvest with Technological Power

All kinds of diseases, insects and weeds that invade crops have always been a huge threat to agricultural quality and yield increase. Bayer CropScience relies on a product portfolio consisting of more than 80 crop protection products, tailoring the full-range crop solutions and services of the “Bayer More” staple food crop series and the “Bayer Better” economic crop series for Chinese farmers. Improve plant health, reduce the impact of pests, diseases, weeds and bad environment. The prevention and control of diseases, insects and weeds needs to avoid a misunderstanding, that is, to deal with different types of diseases with the isolated perspective of "headaches, head pains and feet". Bayer's full-range solution can enable the majority of growers to create a reliable barrier for comprehensive, comprehensive prevention and control of crops in advance on the starting line of spring tillage production to achieve efficient and reliable prevention and control effects.

Considering that during the epidemic period, normal agricultural technology training cannot be carried out in a concentrated manner as usual, Bayer and the National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center jointly implemented a large-scale public welfare training "Hug Green" 2020 series of trainings on March 28, and launched the first batch of online classrooms ——Special session for the prevention and control of stripe rust, invited academicians from the Academy of Engineering, researchers at the National Agricultural Technology Extension Center and other authoritative experts to give lectures, focusing on the prevention and control of wheat diseases and insect pests adapted to agricultural conditions. The number of viewers in the first course exceeded 5,000 and the interactive likes exceeded 30,000. In the follow-up, "Embrace the Green" also successively launched a number of technical special sessions such as Gibberella, one-spray and three-proof green control, and the response was enthusiastic. Not only that, Bayer also actively participated in the public welfare live broadcast of the "Spring Plowing Live Class" such as Kuaishou and the China Plant Protection Guide, and provided in-depth guidance on the prevention of Spodoptera frugiperda. Since the Spring Festival, "Bayer Yue Farm Hall" has also held 46 live broadcasts nationwide, with a total of 330,000 viewers, which provides farmers with a bridge to learn scientific planting technology from agricultural technology experts.

Intelligent equipment represented by drones has played an important role in reducing the gathering of people and improving the efficiency of plant protection in spring cultivation this year. Bayer actively cooperates with manufacturers such as DJI and Jifei, and vigorously promotes the unified defense rule of "one spray, three defenses" for drones in Henan, Jiangsu and other regions. As of the end of April, Bayer has supported the Henan government's wheat "one spray and three prevention" over one million mu times. This way of relying on unmanned aerial vehicles to carry out carpet-like unified operations is very conducive to the rapid suppression and prevention of major diseases and insect pests, and the plant protection efficiency can be increased by 30% relative to manual pesticide application.

As early as 2018, Bayer took the lead in jointly publishing the “Code of Practice for Safe Use of Pesticides for Plant Protection UAVs” with the National Aeronautical Plant Protection Technology Innovation Alliance, which aims to ensure the safety of people, the environment, crops and food. In addition, Bayer also cooperated with the China Pesticide Industry Association and the National Agricultural Technology Center to carry out training sessions on safe drug use based on drone flight defense, plant protection drone pilot training and other activities. Each training pilot has thousands of pilots. On the occasion of the "World Safety and Health Work Day" on April 28 this year, Bayer jointly released the "Safety Flight Defense" with 13 organizations including the China Pesticide Industry Association, China Agricultural University, the National Aviation Plant Protection Technology Innovation Alliance, and DJI Agriculture. The "Proposal" has laid a good foundation for the safety and standardization of spring farming.
